The April 2013 Scrapbooking From Scratch retreat at Summerland Point was the first retreat I’ve been to outside metropolitan Sydney so I really wanted to make a point of documenting the journey.
The weekend was all about backgrounds and I gave myself a personal challenge to get outside my comfort zone. Lisa Oxley did an amazing workshop all about using dylusions inks, gesso and paint to create fabulous backgrounds (all just starting with a white piece of cardstock).
As well as using a mask to create this fantastic rainbow background I printed a map from Google and then stitched the route using blue/purple variegated thread to add a bit of interest.
The rest of the embellishing consists of things from my stash that I’ve considered at one time or another to be ‘too big’, ‘too bright’ or ‘too fancy’ to use. I gave myself over to doodling and used some of those over the top things (they seemed to be waiting for this layout).
Thanks Lisa! The inspiration from your workshop is still alive and strong four months later 🙂
Wow I love the idea with the colored background – so much inspiration on your blog 🙂
I’m new to blogging so I’m really excited 😀
And yeah I love this page!
